Job vacancy – Club Manager!

We are looking for a Club Manager with strong administrative, management, social media and people
skills, initiative and a passion for Tennis and Squash.

The Club Manager is the public face, and the driving force of our Club. You will need to understand and
respond to the needs of our members, and have a keen eye for marketing, financial growth, sponsorship and community initiatives, for the benefit of our Club. A key component of the position will be working with Contractors as we have a number of maintenance projects that we anticipate undertaking in the near future. There is plenty of room to innovate and make this role your own.

This is a flexible, part-time (30 hours per week), permanent position based at the Khandallah Tennis and Squash Club, Delhi Crescent, Khandallah, Wellington.

Background
The Khandallah Tennis and Squash Club was established in 1899. It is a family orientated, community based tennis and squash club with approximately 500 tennis and squash members. The club has 7 tennis courts, 4 squash courts, lounge, kitchen, bar changing rooms and sauna. It also has an onsite retail shop, resident tennis coaching school and squash coach.

The Club manager works closely with the President, the Committee and interacts with members,
contractors, and other stakeholders to achieve our vision and goals.

Key skills and attributes for the position include:
– previous experience in administration and managing an office
– supporting our member and Club activities
– maintaining an active Club profile for members and the community with the effective use of
social media, keeping the website updated, newsletters and other written communication
– high degree of professionalism, strong management and prioritization skills, sound judgment
and business acumen
– strong and effective communication skills to support member and public enquiries
– excellent interpersonal skills to respond to member and prospective
member enquiries – both in person, by phone and online
– proven ability to work independently, efficiently, creatively and to deadlines
– being an opportunity spotter for funding streams such as grants, sponsorship and other revenue
gathering activities
– promoting the Club as the “place to meet” for our sporting partners and community
stakeholders, and assisting in Club events
– managing contractors, vendors and other third-party organisations to get the job done on the
Club’s behalf
– IT literacy including the ability to use Xero, Hello Club, Microsoft Office Suite
– Good understanding of the effects of immediate and longer-term revenue and expenditure
requirements of the Club
– Demonstrating initiative/problem solving/being solution-focused
– Eligibility to work in New Zealand with Permanent residency status
– Current and clean driver’s license
– A Bar licence is an advantage.
